First Annual Festival of the Arts in Downtown Luray, VA

Main Street Bakery & Catering will be offering FESTIVAL SPECIALS! So stop in for a treat in between venues.

Celebrate the creativity of the many artists, artisans, performers, and musicians who live, work, and/or exhibit in the town of Luray and throughout Page County, Virginia.

The first annual Festival of the Arts in Downtown Luray, developed by the Page Valley Arts Council, will showcase old-time, traditional, and contemporary art developed by artists and artisans in the Page Valley. This small, historic valley is located within Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. It features a rich tradition of art forms that originated in the Valley and surrounding Blue Ridge and Massanutten Mountains.

This three-day family-friendly event will feature exhibitions and demonstrations by more than 50 artists, including painters, potters, fiber artists, basket-weavers, jewelry-makers, woodworkers, musicians, writers, and performers.

Visit with artists, learn about their crafts and get insights into their creative processes and techniques. Listen to music of all genres. Watch (or join in) as groups perform traditional dances of times gone by.

The event will be held at venues in downtown Luray that include Warehouse Art Gallery (WAG), Regional center for the Performing Arts of Luray, Inc. (PAL), Trackside Theater, and the Arts and Artisans Gallery.

The festivities will begin on at 7:00 pm on Friday, March 23 at PAL, with rotating performances by regional musicians who will perform as trios, duos, and soloists.

Saturday’s activities begin at 10:00 am, with artist exhibitions, demonstrations, and sales of original hand-crafted work at all venues. Participants include painters, ceramicists, woodworkers, jewelry makers, basket-weavers, quilters, spinners, and fabric artists. There will also be spin art for children and more. In the evening, musicians once again take the stage at PAL.

On Sunday, events continue from 11:00 to 4:00, with highlights that include dances by Civil War era performers and a performance by Shenandoah Valley Cloggers.
